Synopsis

In the midst of World War II, a young woman brings hope and love to a widower and his children

Set in 1930s Austria, Maria is a young woman struggling in her training at the convent. When the Abbey is asked for a governess to care for seven children, Maria takes on the task of handling the household of Navy officer George Von Trapp. Despite their initial skepticism, both the kids and their father soon grow to cherish the presence of the joyful Maria. As George and Maria begin to fall in love, a new set of problems emerge for them both.
